Waste Erased

Inspiration

As we were brainstorming some ideas we wanted to address the issue that we see on a daily basis. Coming from NY we see a lot of pollution and waste. We wanted to come up with a solution that would bridge the gap between people who could come together and be more informed about our waste use.

What it does

It informs people about their waste and how the people could come together to solve it.

How we built it

We built the front end using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript/JQuery. The backend was made using Flask, python, and News API.

Challenges we ran into

We weren’t experienced with the API and it was difficult for us to have the frontend and backend match.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our design and that we were able to complete what we aimed for in a short period of time.

What we learned

Working in a team virtually is hard but constant communication is the key.

What's next for Waste Erased

It would be making it a reality and also implementing more user experience on the backend survey and live chart to improve it for broader audience.
