Our communities are filled with all kinds of trash. But our homes do not have enough heat during the Cold seasons. And the cost of energy is either petroleum or electricity is at an all time high.

Waste 2 energy is a sustainable initiative to produce to forms of clean renewable energy (petroleum and electricity), using two forms of biomass (sewage and garbage) to tackle to main problems in our communities (pollution and high energy cost).

The project is built in 4 different stages

  1. Smart Waste management grid- this phase involves strategically setting up waste bins in the most land polluted areas to collect the targeted goal of 300tons of garbage.
  2. Processing- the waste collected is sorted to extract the desirable amount of energy which is 20Megawatts 300gallons of petroleum. 3.Energy allocation- the produced energy is then stored in batteries (for electricity) and in gallons for petroleum. 4.Distribution- The energy that's allocated is then distributed within a controlled group of individuals and companies.

The biggest challenge we ran into is acquiring the resources required to develop the project has been a challenge. As well as a limited amount of skills dedicated to achieving the project goal.

The project is achievable and contributes to mainly to the UN's MDG goal of sustainability.

What we learned with the waste 2 energy initiative is that, you have to use what you have to get what you need.

What's next for Waste 2 Energy: We want to go on to produce the target goal of 20MW of electricity and eventually grow to 1000MW in the next 5 years which will allow us to sell electricity as a commodity. Not forgetting the petroleum aspect of the project moving from 300gallons to 18000gallons of eco-friendly petroleum in the next 8years.
