Inspiration

We wanted an app that could help make planning trips a walk in the park while helping our users build stronger connections with their friends, creating long-lasting friendships. Therefore, we were inspired by Tinder and TripAdvisor, combining the features of the two to create Wanderlust.

What it does

Wanderlust is an app that incorporates the addictive swiping right feature of Tinder and the informational and practical nature of TripAdvisor. Users will be given a series of locations that will be submitted by the Wanderlust team or by users of Wanderlust, from here, they can swipe right to like the location, swipe left to dislike, or swipe up to view more information. After some swipes, users can click a button that will generate their own personalized itinerary based on the data that they've given Wanderlust. Furthermore, you can also send locations/trips to your friends and family, potentially creating meaningful memories.

How we built it

We build the interface using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

All of our group members have never learnt Figma beforehand, therefore, we had to learn it from scratch which caused some errors. Due to this, we had to restart the project a couple times but after a few tries, we got it to work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the look and feel of the app as everything looks simple yet visually appealing. We are also very proud of the idea that we created as it is very innovative and has yet to be done.

What we learned

We've learned how to work together as a team and that for a team to be successful, communication is key. We had some ups and downs while building this project but as long as everybody remained respectful, we were able to continue working on this project with a smile.

What's next for Wanderlust

We are going to try to build both the front-end and back-end for Wanderlust, bringing our idea to life.
