Inspiration
Our inspiration for Quason stemmed from observing the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals during air travel. Navigating through the multiple stages of an airport – from check-in to boarding – can be daunting without sight. Inspired to make a difference, we envisioned a solution that integrates the power of AI to provide a seamless and accessible airport experience for everyone.
What it does
Quason is a voice-activated assistant powered by OpenAI's API, designed to guide visually impaired passengers through every step of the airport process. By simply using their voice, users can receive real-time assistance for check-in, security clearance, finding their gate, and more. Quason communicates directly with the airport's systems to provide updated information and guidance.
How we built it
We developed Quason using the OpenAI API to handle natural language processing, allowing the assistant to understand and respond to user queries effectively. The application is built on a robust backend that integrates with airport databases to fetch real-time information about gates, flight times, and security guidelines. We ensured the system is accessible via a simple voice command, prioritizing ease of use and reliability.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring that the voice recognition system could accurately understand and process commands in a noisy airport environment. Additionally, integrating real-time data from various airport sources posed significant technical hurdles regarding data consistency and reliability.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are particularly proud of Quason's ability to deliver precise and timely information to users, enhancing their airport experience significantly. Our successful integration of the OpenAI API with live airport data has created a truly innovative tool that stands to revolutionize travel for the visually impaired.
What we learned
Throughout the development of Quason, we learned a great deal about the complexities of airport operations and the specific needs of visually impaired travelers. Working with advanced APIs and real-time data integration also provided us valuable insights into building accessible tech solutions in a dynamic environment.
What's next for Quason
Moving forward, we aim to refine Quason by expanding its language capabilities and integrating more personalized features based on user feedback. Additionally, we plan to partner with airlines and airports to pilot our system and drive wider adoption, ensuring that Quason becomes a staple tool in enhancing airport accessibility.
