Inspiration
We chose to address voting because people are often misinformed or uneducated when it comes to the political candidates available and their stances on global issues. Additionally, political corruption can cause confusion and lead to misinformed citizens voting.
What it does
Our website aims to provide people with unbiased information that will give citizens the opportunity to educate themselves on the differences between the democratic, republican, and libertarian parties as well as the 2020 presidential candidates’ policies and stances towards global issues.
How we built it
We collaborated on a shared repl.it, and were on frequent, lengthy zoom calls as we worked together and coded.
Challenges we ran into
There were issues with XCode, and most of our team had experience with website coding languages, like JAVA, HTML, and CSS
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to create the political party quiz, and link vote.org to our voter registration menu option. Also, we are proud that we were to research and provide unbiased information on the candidates.
What we learned
We learned a lot more about non-mainstream parties, such as the libertarian one. We all learned more about collaboration in coding, especially when we are not in person. Some of us were less experienced in web development, so they were able to learn more about HTML and CSS.
What's next for Voting 101
In the future we want to include more parties that are often overlooked. Also, due to time constraints we were unable to include information about Senate and House candidates for certain states which we strive to do in the future.
