Inspiration
We wanted to make a round-based game that was fun, engaging, but also separated players in a fun way. We thought of the theme 'the end is near...' and immediately thought that we wanted something that brought a definite end to each round. In this case, a black hole! The whole point of the game is that the end of the world is near unless you can help.
What it does
Void Escape runs fast 1–5 minute rounds. Players spawn on a collapsing map with rising difficulty. You can: Race parkour platforms to reach the evac helicopter, or Save the lobby by finding and pressing hidden buttons to vent the black hole before it implodes.
How we built it
Engine: Roblox Studio with Lua. Core systems: round manager, puzzle manager, and win/lose states. Movement & level: parts for the platforming section, moving parts via TweenService, music via Suno.ai.
Challenges we ran into
Making the game loop repeatable was difficult. Playtesting took a long time as we wanted to get the game just right without being too hard/too easy for either team.
What we learned
Have a full idea before building. Leaving some of the idea-generation till later works but it's a lot more seamless if everything is designed before it is built.
What’s next for Void Escape
More polish by fixing bugs (just ran out of time). Adding more randomly generated puzzles.
