Inspiration

Healthcare communication is fragmented, rushed, and often overwhelming—especially when patients try to describe their symptoms or emotional experiences clearly. We wanted to simplify how people express their health concerns, making it easier to gain meaningful insights and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.

What it does it do

HealthVoice lets users effortlessly record daily voice memos to track physical, emotional, and overall health. Using AI, the app instantly transcribes these recordings into clear, insightful reports, helping users better understand their health and communicate quickly and clearly with doctors or therapists.

How We Built It

Our app is built with:

  • TypeScript
  • React & Tailwind CSS
  • WASM SQLite (in-browser) for secure local storage
  • OpenAI API (Whisper for transcription, GPT-4o for insight generation)

Challenges We Ran Into

  • Audio input as primary data entry: Implemented entirely from scratch—led to some tricky bugs!
  • Keeping the design simple: Continuously refined our UI to ensure an intuitive user experience without overcomplication.
  • Generating meaningful insights from unstructured audio and text—required careful prompting and iteration with GPT-4o.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of

  • Instant Health Insights: Users can effortlessly track their health patterns daily, gaining meaningful insights without cumbersome questionnaires.
  • Enhanced Doctor-Patient Communication: Clear, concise, AI-generated reports allow for faster and more productive medical visits.
  • Engaging Daily Habit: Created a genuinely enjoyable and accessible user experience, promoting long-term health engagement through simple gamification (daily streaks).

What's Next for HealthVoice

  • Deeper Personalization: Tailoring insights and prompts based on individual user history, enhancing personal relevance and engagement.
  • Predictive Health Analytics: Proactively identifying health trends and alerts from accumulated user data.
  • Clinical Pilot Study: Formal collaboration with healthcare providers to validate effectiveness and refine doctor-patient communication flows.
