Vitaliti: Medicine Tracker App

Inspiration

Our inspiration for creating Vitaliti came from a deeply personal place. One of our team members had a family member who struggled to keep track of their medication schedule, leading to missed doses and disrupted treatment. This personal experience highlighted the need for a solution that could help individuals, especially those with complex medication regimens, stay on top of their health and wellness journey. We wanted to create a tool that would simplify the process of managing medications, reduce the risk of errors, and ultimately improve the quality of life for those who depend on prescription drugs.

What it does

Vitaliti is a comprehensive medicine tracker app that empowers users to effortlessly manage their medication regimen. It offers the following core features:

1. Medication Upload: Users can upload the details of the medications they are taking, including the medication name, dosage, schedule, and any specific instructions.

2. Today's Medications: The app provides a daily list of medications that need to be taken, ensuring that users never miss a dose. It sends reminders for each scheduled medication.

3. Medication Calendar: Vitaliti maintains a record of the medications taken, creating a visual calendar that allows users to track their medication history. It also keeps a streak counter, encouraging consistent adherence to treatment.

How we built it

We built Vitaliti using modern web development technologies. We used React Native for the user interface, creating a responsive and user-friendly design. Native components helped us achieve a consistent and appealing look.

Challenges we ran into

Building Vitaliti was our first foray into mobile app development, and we had never used React Native before. Learning a new technology while creating a feature-rich medicine tracker was a challenging but rewarding experience, showcasing our ability to adapt and grow as a team.

As a team, we're incredibly proud of what we've achieved with Vitaliti. Our proudest accomplishment is creating a tool that genuinely improves the lives of individuals who rely on medication. Knowing that Vitaliti can help people stay healthy and adhere to their treatment plans is a great source of pride. Vitaliti features an intuitive user interface with a sleek and modern design, making it easy for users to manage their medications.

What we learned

The journey of creating Vitaliti taught us invaluable lessons. We learned the importance of effective collaboration and communication within a team, especially when working on a complex project with multiple components. The importance of designing with the end user in mind, creating a product that is both functional and user-friendly. Overcoming obstacles and pushing through challenges is a crucial part of any development process.

What's next for Vitaliti

Our journey doesn't end with the hackathon as we have many plans for the future of Vitaliti. We want to integrate the usage of more machine learning for greater accessibility, including a model to identify pills from an image, which would provide utility for people with impaired vision. On the backend, we want to add push notifications even when the app is offline so that users can keep better track of their medication schedule. At the end of the day, the people are our topmost concern, and we want to create a community around Vitaliti, offering support, advice, and a platform for users to share their experiences and insights.

Vitaliti is more than just an app; it's a commitment to improving the health and well-being of our users. We're excited about the road ahead and the positive impact we can make in the world of healthcare.
