Inspiration
The idea was created to make a more efficient method of attendance checking. When entering the hackathon, there was a sign-in desk that could have been streamlined with the use of the tools that we created through the app. Furthermore, we saw all of the announcements being made by people that ran the program. Again, this could have been made easier with real-time updates of the happenings of the event in the application we created.
What it does
It takes attendance for events that are located in specific locations. The application streamlines attendance so that event organizers do not have to manually check for the attendees. Furthermore, the application allows event organizers to send announcements in a much easier fashion while users are signed into events.
How I built it
The programming languages we used are Java, HTML5, CSS, XML, and Javascript. To integrate the maps function to the application, we used Google Maps API's and for the login method and realtime database we used Firebase. For app development, we used Android Studio. For the website, we used a template for the structure and modified it to our own liking.
Challenges I ran into
At first, the issue was in making an Android Studio project that worked. Once, we got that running, the integration of Google API's and Firebase in the application was the next hurdle that challenged us. To get this aspect fixed, we had to completely learn the Google Maps API and Firebase.
