Climate Crisis Hackathon — Reducing CO2

The Point Of No Return

What it does

Our project takes in a lot of global data regarding city emissions, and finds creative and exciting ways to portray this information for the general public. We hope we're able to:

  1. Give people a better understanding of the crisis going on in the world,
  2. Raise awareness regarding this important issue, and
  3. Push people to demand more action and transparency from their local governments.

How we built it

We processed the data using Microsoft Excel and the Pandas library in Python. We then combined the results with visualization software or merged images to create snappy and enlightening projects.

Challenges we ran into

We frequently faced challenges while working on the project, but that's what allowed us to grow.

  • We were faced with a lack of data — a common issue climate scientists face.
  • We weren't all too familiar with the tools we were going to use, which led to challenges and hiccups along the way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

There's a lot we're proud of, the most important being that we were part of such a wonderful event and had the opportunity to make the world a better place. Our accomplishments:

  • Creating several visualizations.
  • Utilizing a small sample to the best of our capacities.
  • Improving our knowledge of various software and technology.

What we learned

  • How important data is, and how limited it is in some fields.
  • Better knowledge of the software used.
  • A greater understanding of AI.

What's next for Visionario

We're hoping to take what we've learnt forward with us. We plan on using this information throughout the rest of our education, and to use these new skills and abilities in future projects.
