Inspiration

Ever experienced the aftermath of a dreadful haircut? Odds are, you answered "yes" almost immediately! According to my completely fabricated statistics, a whopping 100% of individuals on this planet have fallen victim to a bad haircut at least once!

Surprisingly, the leading cause of such hair horrors isn't necessarily the lack of skill on the barber's part (though that can certainly contribute), but rather, it's miscommunication! Even with a highly skilled barber, if they misunderstand what you want, you'll inevitably end up with a style that misses the mark.

The hair cutting industry is rife with miscommunication due to the intricate language used by barbers.

"#5 here, low taper there, fade here, wolf cut there" – to the untrained ear, it's akin to a foreign tongue!

But what if there was a solution? What if you could not only receive personalized hair style recommendations based on your facial shape and complexion but also be provided with a 3D visualization of the suggested cut and a translation into barber jargon?

AI Hair Style Generator: Meet our advanced hair AI model, Dapper Droid. It starts by creating a 3D render of your head, then sifts through its extensive databases to determine the hair style that best complements your facial structure and skin tone. Say goodbye to the days of uncertain hair choices – with Dapper Droid, you'll know which style statistically suits your face shape the best.
Barber Translator: Once you've generated your new style with Dapper Droid, you can save it within the app. Under the "Saved Styles" tab, you'll find all your saved cuts, complete with the precise barber terminology to describe the haircut and a 3D render showcasing the cut on your head.
Barber Finder: Tired of scouring Google and sifting through endless reviews to find a decent barber? Our app features the most advanced barber locating service known to humanity. It pinpoints the best barbers near you, offering insider knowledge on specific barbers to choose or avoid within each establishment.

How We Built It

We kicked off our journey by sketching out a rough version of the app's UI and flow using good old-fashioned paper and pencil. Eventually, we transitioned to Figma to continue our work.

From that point onward, every aspect of our project was crafted within Figma. We utilized its prototype flow feature to effectively showcase the capabilities of our app.

Challenges We Ran Into

Our greatest hurdle was navigating the intricacies of Figma, a platform we were all relatively inexperienced with. It took several YouTube tutorials and countless hours of trial and error, but eventually, we got the hang of it.

What's Next for VisageIQ

Our vision for VisageIQ extends beyond this prototype – we aim to bring it to market! Our next step involves translating our project from Figma into code, with the ultimate goal of launching the app in the near future. Stay tuned for the future of personalized hair care!
