Intro

Myself S Deepak Kumar, a self learned coder. I love to do Web, Mobile & Machine Learning related stuff. I develop videoCaptioner app using Agora SDK for this hackathon. App Feature: Live Captioning, 1-to-1 Real-time Video & audio Meeting, Real-time Chat, Get Topics & Questions, Mute/unmute mic & Disable/enable video.

Inspiration

I have had difficulties in understanding things during video meetings many times and I think a lot of people must have faced this problem. Not only this, due to the long meeting sometimes, what happened during the meeting is also not remembered and for this the host had to speak to send the recording and watch the long recordings again, surely this is not a great idea. Many times I wished there was an app that would be able to provide real-time captions while talking & export whole conversation happening during the meeting in the form of text. Then one day I came to know about this hackathon and worked on this idea. To be honest, it wouldn't have been possible without Agora SDK.

What it does

videoCaptioner helps you to get real-time caption, full chats, topics & asked questions during one to one video call/meeting. It's built using Agora SDK & Symbl.ai's Conversation Intelligence platform for live captioning. I used HTML & JavaScript to make this project.

How we built it

I solely develop this whole web app. I used tools that make it easy to get right into what matters: creating an application that people want to use. I develop this whole app using HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT & Agora SDK.

Challenges we ran into

Creating a project, deploying it, and adding functionality were full of fun and exciting challenges along the way. To be honest, I was aware about Agora but never used it's SDK/API. So, I faced a little difficulties while building videoCaptioner. Agora API documentation is really fantastic, it helped me to understand its usage in little time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Committing to something new with the knowledge you are submitting it for judging takes courage, to begin with! I am proud I committed, created something I was inspired by, and followed through by submitting it!

What we learned

Taking an application from an idea to a functioning thing is a multi-step process that I knew nothing about before beginning my journey with this hackathon. I learned lots of things related to Agora SDK.

What's next for videoCaptioner

I would like to refactor and optimize with a focus on accessibility. Making the application more responsive & fast.
