Inspiration

Together our group knew we wanted to incorporate machine learning into our project, we just didn't know how. We thought it was the perfect opportunity to do so here at Hack the Valley with local industry experts.

What it does

Our project uses elements of machine learning to generate a video with audio of a length of the users choosing on the spot. It does this based on a prompt given by the user.

How we built it

We had the individual parts such as the image and audio generation but we needed to tie everything together. With a bit of clever coding and plenty of coffee breaks, we were able to make something that took the best of pieces we assembled it with.

Challenges we ran into

The issue with our project was actually putting it together. We had 4 group members with different experience levels and different languages, that was just the start though. The different pieces of our actual code had plenty of problems interacting with each other as well but in the end we made it work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of working together. This was our first hackathon and we were able to assemble something we couldn't have done alone. Every one did their part and I think we all had a lot of fun.

What we learned

The lesson we learned was definitely how many resources there are out there on the internet for topics like machine learning. We had a mentor show us websites that walked us through step by step things that we thought we're impossible. Oh that and to get more sleep.

What's next for Video Vinyl

We have a lot to work on, this app is only the foundation for something we can build off of. Our next step is to keep polishing and by the end of this we want to get something even better.
