Over 30% of disabled veterans in the US are unemployed vs 5% of non-veterans
There are over 6.5 million disabled veterans just in the US
Although some disabled veterans can’t perform certain tasks, they should still have access to opportunities to get jobs.
What it does
Through VeteranJob, disabled veterans have the opportunity to… Build skills in career fields that they are interested in and Identify jobs and careers that fit their skill sets
Business owners can… Find employees to support their businesses
It also suggests skills veterans can learn to apply for a certain job
How we built it
We built it using HTML5, CSS, Javascript, and Ionic Framework
Challenges we ran into
While building out courses AI, we ran into a multitude of errors and had to compromise multiple times to get enough time to submit our project
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building the AI, which took us a lot of time and making our UI look clean.
What we learned
We learned how to make our UI better and how to make the courses AI very efficient
What's next for VeteranJob
Make the mobile app more accessible with features for visual and speech impairments, Improve the algorithm that recommends courses to users who don’t have a certain skill, and Begin a large scale rollout with at least 3-4 partnerships.
