VendorWise AI was inspired by the real problem that companies silently lose a large amount of money on unused software subscriptions, duplicate tools, and inactive licenses hidden inside complex billing systems. I wanted to build something that could turn messy financial data into clear, actionable insights that help businesses save money immediately.
It works as an AI-powered cost optimization platform where users upload invoices or SaaS billing data. The system extracts key information such as vendors, pricing, seat usage, and renewal cycles, then identifies inefficiencies like unused licenses, overlapping tools, and unnecessary spending. It then presents everything in a clean dashboard with clear savings recommendations.
The project was built using a modern web stack with an AI layer for invoice understanding and data extraction, combined with a structured database and a dashboard UI to visualize spending insights. The focus was on making the workflow feel like a real enterprise SaaS product rather than just a prototype.
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that AI-generated insights felt realistic, accurate, and useful in a business context. Another challenge was structuring unorganized invoice data into clean, usable formats that could power meaningful analytics.
I am proud that the system successfully transforms raw financial inputs into clear savings opportunities and presents them in a way that feels like a real-world finance tool a company could actually use.
Through this project, I learned how AI can be applied beyond simple chat or content generation and instead be used for real operational decision-making, especially in finance and cost optimization workflows. I also gained experience in designing systems that balance AI output with structured business logic.
In the future, VendorWise AI could be expanded with direct integrations into SaaS platforms, automated cancellation or downgrade suggestions, and predictive analytics to forecast future spending and prevent waste before it happens.
