Inspiration

During Covid pandemic, people switched to online shopping to buy even day-to-day items from world's best retailers. These retailers have partnership with few sellers, making only their products reach out to people. These lead to small scale local retailers businesses become doomed. Even if they provide better products they remained unnoticed. Multi-National Companies of foreign countries started flourishing. They brought a sudden boom in their market which actually should have been in ours. This made our helpless local natives strive for their living. We thought of helping our local small scale retailers by bring their products out to public. We are intending to build a platform in which every retailer can become a part of it and no one is left behind.

What it does

We planned to build an app that would help small scale retailers (or vendors) sell their products to customers. Initially, as of now, we are planning to make it available to customers who are in close proximity to the sellers. So our app will consist of these 2 main features:

Buyer
Seller

Let’s check these two features in detail

1. Buyer Here the customer who wants to buy a product, first goes to search tab and selects his item of choice. And then he will be directed to many products of different sellers starting from his closest location. Also there can be rated products (rating would have been given by the previous customers) and so he would understand the quality level. Thus the required product arrives at his doorstep.

2. Seller Vendors/retailers can provide details of their venture along with few pictures through which they get registered as a seller in this app. Even those who don’t have shops or place to sell their goods (like sell from home) can use our platform. The products range from everyday use items and to aesthetic home furnishing products, also promoting locally made traditional products such as pottery items, etc. Our app will also give people access to products that have required function, are sustainable, good quality and design , and which are available at a low price.

How we built it

UI/UX designing, Flutter for app development, Dart, Firebase, APIs.

Challenges we ran into

We had flutter for app development which was completely new for us. Had to learn how businesses happen in e-commerce level.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we are able to provide a platform that would help small scale vendors sell their products and make a living out of it.

What's next for URBAN GREEN

Expand our area of trading into district level and extending further on. Using regional languages that would have help the local non-English taught people. We are also looking forward to integrate 3D stimulations to create a retail environment that are as close to the real shopping experience as possible.
