Inspiration

What it does

Our projects connect these people in need to businesses that are required to donate their leftovers by providing an interface in which users can easily locate these businesses nearby.

How we built it

As beginners to the coding world, we built this mainly using CSS, HTML, and API.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was working out exactly how our website would work and what features are within our reach. For example, there was no database published containing the list of businesses. In addition, we realized our lack of experience - as this is our first hackathon - it hindered our ability to efficiently and quickly solve problems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to code a whole website all by ourselves. As high school students, we were able to learn from the workshops and mentors here to implement ideas into our project.

What we learned

We learned so much! For instance, we learned from workshops about LLMS and making startups out of our projects.

What's next for Unity for Hunger

We are looking to expand past Santa Cruz to the entirety of California to provide a reliable and helpful service to those in need. We are also looking to make it accessible to all types of users using things like text-to-speech. We also would love to create separate profiles for different types of users including the needy and the providers using verification systems for low income.
