Inspiration

The inspiration for 'United for Relief' came from the heart-wrenching news of the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. As we watched the tragedy unfold, we felt a deep sense of empathy for the victims and their families. We realized that as a global community, it is our responsibility to help in any way we can. That's why we created this website to bring attention to the dire situation, provide resources for those who want to make a difference, and share the stories of the victims in order to inspire compassion and action. Our goal is to bring hope and healing to those who have been affected by this tragedy, and to remind us all that we are all united in our humanity

What it does

"United for Relief" is a website dedicated to raising awareness about the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and their devastating impact on the local communities. Our goal is to provide a valuable resource for anyone who wants to help. The website features a landing page that gives an overview of the situation, a "Donate" page with links and information on various organizations working to assist earthquake victims, a "Hear Their Stories" page that showcases personal accounts and images of those affected, and a "Contact Us" page for users to reach out with any questions or concerns.

How we built it

We initially designed what the website would look like and created our logo. We researched reliable donation sites and collected them along with various stories of people who were victims of the earthquake. Then we used replit to create our website with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

One of our challenges was creating a contact us page with a fully responsive email and text input field. We were able to get our contact page to link to our newly created email address for them to reach out to us. However, our biggest challenge was the emotional aspect of creating the website. As two Turkish women, researching for hours through countless tragedies on the internet and seeing people suffer with no help was very disheartening.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

An achievement we are proud of is creating a website overnight, despite our limited HTML/CSS knowledge. With a clear goal in mind - to spread awareness and help earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria - we were driven to produce a valuable resource for those in need overnight.

What we learned

As we researched for hours through the web for ways we can help the victims of the earthquake, we realized that as a global community, it is our responsibility to help in any way we can. What's next for United for Relief

We are looking to purchase a domain and post QR codes around the school of our website to spread awareness around in our immediate community. We will also use the internet to gain more engagement. We will also update our contact us page to make it more personalized for people who are seeking help.
