Despite the fact that all three of us are computer science majors, we all have our own passions that we combined together to create Dibs!. Shreya enjoys the concepts of app development, Jia loves to upcycle and thrift, and Minesh has a liking for fashion. With these three and the theme of sustainability we came up with an app that plays the role of a marketplace for students the connect with their campus, buy good condition used items, and sell their own as well. We built this using SwiftUi on Xcode, the language created by Apple for iOS apps, as Shreya already had experience using it and learning it. Knowing it is quite easy to pick up and create working, aesthetic applications. As we sat together, we each took turns adding our own knowledge and ideas into the code that helped us to create Dibs!. Shreya helped Jia and Minesh learn more about Swift and as they began to pick up on it, it made the coding process that much smoother. As we coded and came up with more additions for Dibs!, it became a bit hard to keep track of how many files we had and what we had to modify to create certain features, however, with a little time and patience we were able to help each other out. We were quite proud with every milestone we passed as it is not easy coding on w new software in a new language. Yet as we saw everything come together we were happy with our end result. We think it's quite obvious that the biggest thing we learned was how to use SwiftUi and Xcode, however we also became more aware of the problems surrounding our everyday lives regarding sustainability. We hope to one day develop Dibs! to be ready to launch to the App Store, to expand it to other university and continue to make it user friendly.
