Inspiration
It can become overwhelmingly difficult to extract meaningful information from media outlets. Unbias is able to create a article profile for users to evaluate an author's content and sentiments as writers. This resource can be used while browsing online content, or for young readers and writers, developing their own voices with honest content.
What it does
Unbias analyzes article bodies with IBM's Alchemy, News & Tone Analysis APIs. This tool is an educational resource for readers to evaluate content and for writers to critique their work from a wholistic perspective.
How we built it
Through the Bluemix suite, we've developed a javascript based extension with node.js, IBM's Bluemix, AlchemyAPI, and Tone Analyzer.
Challenges we ran into
Maybe we can blame it on the sleep deprivation, but our biggest challenge was choosing how to construct a database that would work with node and cater to IBM's restful responses. Next time around, we'll make decisive choices while keeping in mind our time and application restraints.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud of the applications Unbias has as an educational resource, the simplicity, and speed at which we deliver our content.
What's next for Unbias
We want to recurse through an articles references to extract more on the research behind a writer's stance. This addition to Unbias will help readers and writers alike in developing honest content.
We also want to cache article profiles. To see what articles are commonly evaluated
