Inspiration

We wanted to work off what Facebook as a concept did when it came to connecting students across the university! Being a commuter campus primarily, we understand the difficulties new students and even older ones face with making friends in different classes and learning from peer experiences. Making that task simpler was our goal!

What it does

It is a social media platform meant to work towards allowing students with shared interests and courses to connect with each other.

How we built it

We used React.js for the frontend side of things and PHP for the backend

Challenges we ran into

There was some difficulty with making a database to work with and finding a way to integrate the code

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the work put into the user interface aspect and even the creativity put together as a team for this project.

What we learned

This is our first experience with backend and React.js, and completing it to the best of our abilities was a great learning curve for us.

What's next for UM Linked

We wish to add more features to the code with time and making it a full fledged social media site to use.
