UAV Trainer

Inspiration

As part of the UAV team, I find that in order to better succeed in our endeavors, we must better educate new members so that the time they invest into our team will become a valuable asset to their skills in the future.

How it works

It is a teaching platform which new members can learn the basics of autonomous controlled flight by directly programming and configuring the system themselves. Essentially, it's an airplane with an autopilot module.

Challenges I ran into

Time within 24 hours along with tasks from the UAV club itself hindered my ability to perfect the system.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Building and designing robots, motivating students back at my hometown with robotics and personally mentoring a student to achieve 2nd place at a regional competition.

What I learned

I learned that in order for members to be able to excel in a new field, especially engineering, they must have first hand experience of what they are working with.

What's next for UAV Trainer

We could add a camera so members can also learn how to track objects from the sky.
