Inspiration

Currently, identity verification often requires users to disclose sensitive data, heightening cybersecurity risks and fraud to occur for both users and institutions. Hence, we have ideated and came up with a solution that aims to tackle and mitigate these risks through the use of decentralized technology.

What it does

Trustify is a decentralized platform that enables users to verify their identity. It leverages self-sovereign identity and verifiable credentials to allow users to manage and share their information with institutions without exposing sensitive data. There is also a interactive dashboard for companies to track metrics that are crucial in better serving their users.

How we built it

We designed Trustify using:

  • Frontend: Built with React.js with typescript, tailwindCSS for an intuitive user interface.
  • Backend: Developed using Solidity smart contracts to handle identity verification on the blockchain.
  • Chainlink Oracles: Used for off-chain operations like verifying phone numbers or email addresses.

Challenges we ran into

  • This concept of decentralization and blockchain was a completely new topic to us so we faced a steep learning curve for the technical aspect.
  • The development portion for the majority of the project was tedious to cross-collaborate on coding with more than one person at a time since we work remotely.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Working together, we managed to deliver a solution that makes use of the EVM sidechain of XRPL to make identity more efficient and cost-friendly for users

What we learned

  • We learnt and picked up applicable knowledge on how to utilize Blockchain, specifically in DAPP as well as some coding experience on Solidity

What's next for Trustify

  • Focus on international compliance standards to enable use cases across various industries like finance, healthcare, and e-commerce.
  • Roll out more features that help to enhance data control, such as permission revocation and sharing history.
