Inspiration 💡

Journalists all around the world chase the truth for the world to see, but thanks to centralized monitoring and manipulation, we get very diluted or at times a completely new story of an Instance.
It may at times even happen that those not in anonymity get threatened by authorities in control, constantly needing a reason to hide whilst delivering the facts to the truth seekers.
Our motivation and intention behind this project is heavily based on the media we consume, there are many watered down, biased and censored versions of various events, that not only hinders our ability to interpret events but also keeps us away from rightfully knowing the details of the story.
To encourage the delivery of facts and truth to the masses - undiluted, in its rawest form and most importantly decentralized, we present to you, True - A decentralized space for the truth to reach the masses

Thanks to Hedera for making True a safe space for the community to post and seek the truth. Our platform utilizes Hedera to power the features as given:

With Hedera we are able to authenticate users with their wallet addresses, hence eliminating the need for any third party authentication integration
With just the wallet address acting as an identifier, and a random username assigned at authentication, you can be assured that there is no centralized monitoring authority for the activities you engage in on our platform

We fetch various other metrics from Hedera like active users, total posts made till date, etc.,
Every post gets recorded on Hedera, this in turn helps to track down false information too
Even any manipulation would not be possible since everything gets recorded on Hedera blockchain

Not only can you support the post by donating your token (Powered by Hedera) to the creator
We have also integrated the option to take down posts which receive a lot of "False Info" votes to them when the criterion gets met, it is automatically hidden from the platform
A post can also get featured if it receives a lot of "trust points"

With Hedera, deserving journalists can get the spotlight by earning NFTs for their achievements
Every criterion when met, the creator would be earning an NFT
The NFTs powered by Hedera are based on both categories of number of posts and the total trust points they receive
With Hedera powering these NFTs, the creators can use them as badges of credibility

With Hedera we are able to provide a decentralized identity and authentication, which eliminates the need to integrate a third party authenticator/identity provider.

Since the goal of our platform is to improve transparency, with Hedera we are able to maintain logs of every transaction that has occurred, which includes transfer of tokens. Additional posts added to the topic, etc.

We were actually pretty short on time, we only had one day of our weekend to put together this project
Time management definitely turned out to be an issue, we realized the importance of time management and planning
One of our teammates was constantly facing power cuts which definitely turned out to be a slight setback but, we pulled through!
Unfortunately due to some issues we faced during development of the project, we had to even start all over from scratch

Making a fully functional project with limited amount of time! We were able to actually do this in almost a day despite having a tight schedule
Thinking outside the box? Our ideas with decentralization revolves usually with very niche topics, for us this project idea really opened up a whole new domain of areas to explore
Successfully understanding, learning and integration Hedera with our platform, which honestly was quite a task
Going through major user research and feature research actually streamlined our process well, we have definitely now got a flow on how to work with weird ideas!

We really got to experiment with what Hedera had to offer
Blockchain is something that is still evolving, experimenting with the idea of decentralization on various domains helped us expand thinking
