Inspiration: As college students, we constantly struggle to find activities and itineraries planned out whether it be for a spontaneous trip or a vacation for several days.
Purpose: tripchip is the application that solves this by taking user preferences on trips and once a user joins a group, the app will take the majority preferences out of all the groups and build out an itinerary best accomodating user preferences along with additional restrictions such as diet and location.
We built the app using the following backend integrations such as supabase for user authentication, solana for budgeting and integrating the wallet where users can pitch in money for the trip, and Gemini API to create the itinerary for the group.
Challenges we ran into: Integration of spotify initially resulted in a website invalid redirect issue and the preview of the spotify dashboard was not properly showing, thus resulting in a lot of iterations to eventually integrate the spotify jam for the app.
We are proud of all the features we have implemented, as the app is more curated towards the user and also provides additional options to ensure trip recommendations and itineraries are properly recommended for groups of people.
We learned that integration of frontend into backend takes multiple iterations and thus is a crucial realization especially in app development
tripchip will continue to be improved through additional features including a live location of each user in the group so users can see where other users are before the duration of the app. Thus ensuring that users stay with their flock during the duration of the trip.
