Tree Whisperer
Inspiration I wanted to create an app that encourages people to get outside, as I've always found immense peace in nature. My goal was to foster a sense of community by bringing people together to share outdoor experiences. This led me to develop Tree Whisperer as a platform to achieve these goals, while also generating funds to sustain the platform and contribute to environmental causes.
What It Does Tree Whisperer connects people through the virtual adoption of trees. Users can name their adopted trees and leave location-based messages for others to discover. Each adopted tree is placed on an interactive map. If a tree gains popularity, users have the option to sell it on a marketplace.
Beyond virtual interactions, Tree Whisperer also:
- Captures moments and memories with location-based photos and secret location-based messages.
- Hosts local meetups and events for nature enthusiasts.
- Organizes photo competitions with real prize money.
- Provides a sustainable tip generator.
- Enables users to share, like, and comment on others' trees.
How We Built It Tree Whisperer was built on Bolt!
Challenges We Ran Into A significant challenge was understanding how API keys and the interactions between front-end and back-end servers work. It was a steep learning curve.
Accomplishments We're Proud Of Despite being a last-minute submission, I'm incredibly proud that I managed to get it done in time!
What We Learned We learned an incredible amount throughout this process—too much to even begin to explain!
What's Next for Tree Whisperer Our next steps involve continuously enhancing the user experience. We also plan to seek out partnerships and collaborations with trusted nonprofit organizations to direct our contributions towards meaningful environmental initiatives.
