Inspiration
Our teammate Sonia was inspired to learn coding through seeing f1 projects online. She is also part of a club on campus called f1tenth who needs telemetry visualization tools.
What it does
Track Site analyzes live hardware data and visual input to help identify problems when a vehicle breaks down. By combining sensor readings with AI-based video analysis, the system pinpoints where something may have failed and suggests possible fixes or next steps. The goal is to provide quick, understandable diagnostics without requiring mechanical expertise.
How we built it
We integrated hardware sensors to collect vehicle data and developed a responsive interface to visualize it in real time. We then incorporate computer vision to analyze video input and correlate visual cues with abnormal sensor patterns. The system brings these components together into a single dashboard for easy interpretation.
Challenges we ran into
Working with live hardware introduced reliability issues, including inconsistent data transmission and calibration problems. Integrating video processing with real-time stats also required careful performance optimization. Ensuring the interface remained clear and useful despite complex data streams from another major challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully transformed a niche motorsports concept into a practical tool for everyday use. The system can collect live data, process visual information, and presentable insights in one place. Building a functional end-to-end protyping within a limited time frame was a significant achievement.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate hardware software, and AI into a cohesive system. The projects also highlighted the importance of designing for real users rather than technical novelty. Additionally, we gain experience trouble-shooting realtime systems under tight constraints.
What's next for Track Site
Next, we want to improve the diagnostic accuracy, support more types of vehicles, and refine AI models with additional training data. We also plan to enhance the user experience and explore mobile deployment so the tool can be used anywhere. Ultimately, we hope to turn Track Site into a reliable assistant for roadside diagnostics and preventative vehicle monitoring.
