Inspiration

As members of underrepresented communities, we noticed that there was a huge problem with finances in our communities. The reason was that there was a lack of knowledge and a lack of mentorship available. That's when we realized that if there was a way to connect members of the see communities with minority business owners, they could receive the help and mentorship they need to help grow and build a great future.

What it does

Titan is an investing app specifically for minority and immigrant-owned businesses. The goal is to connect young immigrant and minority professionals to successful minority and immigrant business owners. You can add a specific contribution to their business to help it grow and to help you grow financially as well. We also add a personal aspect to it by allowing you to message members of the business directly so that you can find someone to mentor you specifically on how to invest, or how to grow your own business one day.

How we built it

We built it by using the React framework, which includes HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and we used Google Firebase for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was deciding how we would get the information from these minority business owners to be a part of the app. We first thought of scraping the web for this app or maybe using an API to get info from the stock market, however, we decided to have an application process so that we can get the most involved business owners who not only want money for their business, but want to help others grow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our design and our tech stack, and we are looking forward to continuing working on Titan.

What we learned

We learned a lot about adding certain packages and APIs to out code so that we could use live information from other sources instead of having to hard code it.

What's next for Titan

We plan on continuing to work on Titan and start talking with these minority business owners to consider using our platform.
