Inspiration
This project was inspired by the concept of time travel.
What it does
The game opens on a title screen, and after clicking play, then goes onto Egypt for the first selection. The selection is to decide what Egypt was the first of, once this is selected, the game moves on to Greece for its selection. Once an option is picked, it moves onto China for its selection, and then to Thomas Edison, and then finally gives a final summary of what happened because of the players decisions.
How we built it
For the actual game, we used Godot, and for the art we used Aseprite. The music was sourced from incompetech.com, Kevin MacLeod's site that he uses to store his music.
Challenges we ran into
There was nothing that was particularly hard, but due to the variety of endings, we had to spend 4 hours creating the endings.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are pretty sure that we actually finished our project, which would be a first.
What we learned
Never underestimate how tedious and boring creating over a hundred of something is.
What's next for Timelapse
Timelapse is pretty much infinitely expandable, as more inventions just need to be found and added to the game in order to make it a longer experience. Each addition will take exponentially longer, though.
