Inspiration
We were inspired to create this website to spread awareness and resources to those who are not familiar with ethical shopping and its benefits. As a group, we felt that the effects of overconsumption has not only affected the environment, but the people. As trends change, the working conditions don’t. To shed light on the environmental and humanitarian issues, our website provides alternatives as well as ethical reasoning to users.
What it does
Our project is a visual prototype of an informative and interactive website. Its goal is to promote ethical shopping that can immediately benefit the environment and people through the trade of fashion.
How we built it
We built our project through Figma using the tools that it provides for designing and prototyping. We also used Unsplash to get a hold of high-quality images to add to the website’s overall aesthetic.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the struggles we had was coming up with appropriate ways to integrate essential tools. Our website is aiming for a clean, ethical, and modern look, and with so many options it's hard to narrow it down. However, our group was attentive, patient, and communicative about our ideas and concerns, which allowed for us to make decisions much quicker. We also tried to integrate some cool animations such as a carousel, but we struggled with that because of the difficulty of integrating such dependent components to each other.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the product that we created together. Our goal was clear, but our design truly reflected the care and thought we put into it. And we only hope that the judges and the world can see our love for this work. We are also proud that we worked our absolute hardest to make a definitive contrast between the foreground and background taht way it is colorblind friendly to users. We are also proud of the fact that we are providing a true alternative to both educate and actively help people decrease their impact of fashion consumption.
What we learned
We learned to work with the new and nitty gritty portions of Figma such as with Local Styles, Components, and more. Two of our group members are also BRAND NEW to Figma, and their learning curve was huge. Overall, I think we all became more intuitive about UX principles and improved our depth in visual appeals for UI.
What's next for Thredz
Thredz is on its way to becoming a fully functional website! Users all over the world can use this viable opportunity to make the world a cleaner and breathable place.
