Our planet is in turmoil

Ecosystems around the world face challenges that threaten their very existence. Based on research data, 71% of all global greenhouse gas emissions come from just 100 companies. That’s right. Businesses are at fault for our climate, and we need to hold them accountable and help them down the path to a better future for all of us.

What is eco?

eco utilizes AI and machine learning technology to connect companies with ecological experts, be it the ocean, the sky, or whatever the company desires. That way, the company can take the next step toward being the sustainable business they hope to be.

How does eco help?

After viewing the data we provide, the companies might reach out and ask to secure funding in exchange for a promise to improve their sustainability through their practices.

What technologies did we use?

Utilizing Figma, we drew up the initial diagrams for our eco website. From there, we coded the front end with ReactJS, with assistance from MaterialUI for styling, and then made the back end with ExpressJS. To prepare the backend, we created an authentication flow that allowed for a single sign-on for greater security and convenience. We also persisted user, project, and funding data using MongoDB for the database. Following that trend, we utilized datasets with thousands of data points to power our machine learning environmental trends, spanning a hundred years of ecological tracking. Then, we ran them through an algorithm to determine each industry’s optimal metrics.
