Inspiration
We realized we are having a hard time keeping up with events on campus and felt isolated even though we're surrounded with student organizations. Events are advertised on various social media platforms. Some of us can't check all of them. But the FOMO is real.
What it does
The Board centralizes all events related to this university: student clubs, unions, departments, all of it. The people who post the events are verified as students or alumni or university workers, ensuring transparency and safety. You can add our pre-specified tags when you upload poster and create event. Then as a event goer, you can choose tags to filter what you like and choose. You can quickly flip through all posters using booklet feature. We verify you with one time password with your university email.
How we built it
We had three people working on front and two on back and database.
Challenges we ran into
Coordination and working with new technologies with bad documentations. (Prisma killed us.)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working together to make something impactful and making like easier for other people.
What we learned
Don't trust Prisma (just kidding). Coding is fun with friends. Trusting each other is important. Team work is not perfectly balanced and we should support each other any way we can. We learned the things we were scared of learning and were procrastinating to learn.
What's next for TheBoard
Supporting event planning. So you know how many people are coming. who checked in. and then later, people can see how much this event has been growing through the years. Post events "ideas" for socializing, study, parties, gauge temperature and plan accordingly. Comments and discussions for events that have been already held. Photo gallery. Ratings for event posters.
