Inspiration
The idea for the View App actually came from the lack of ability to display music and video NFTs in a vivid and colorful way. Also, limited options to display digital assets without exposing your crypto wallets, which contain other valuable tokens.
What it does
The View App has 3 components: NFT display, Video on Demand, and Livestreaming. The View App allows users to connect their wallets without exposing user assets to security breach. It displays images and videos in an NFT in full screen, much like a media player. All video Metadata for NFTs use Theta Video API. Next, the app has pre-built channels, much like Rewarded TV, except with a BET (Black Entertainment Television, a popular network for African Americans) agenda. These channels all leverage Theta Video API, and some channel's content can only be accessed if user possess particular NFTs. Last, the app has mobile livestreaming for permissioned channels. Theta DRM is used to grant access to any exclusive content or ticketed Livestreaming events.

How we built it
The View App was built in React Native code. We used both Theta API and Proton API to access accounts and display the account's digital assets. We also created channels leveraging Theta Video API, which will later be stored on our Edge Store Nodes when it is released. We use OBS Mobile app for Livestreaming and run it through TVA.
Challenges we ran into
Theta's technology is brilliant, but still early in development. Wallet Connect will not pair when connecting it to an app. The only way it will work is if user opens their Theta Wallet and uses the QR scanner to scan the code from wallet connect. We could not properly setup the Meta Chain. We want to distribute the VIEW Token for content creators and users, so we will be building a sub chain soon. We used the Nefty Blocks nft marketplace from proton, but all the NFTs Metadata, including music and video files, are streamed through Theta Video API. Theta Explorer API is also difficult to use, but opentheta recently released an API that will help in the future.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are the first team to run all NFT Metadata through Theta Video API, so every time one of our NFTs are viewed, it's leveraging Theta's Edge nodes.
What we learned
We have to build a dashboard and database to connect to Theta Video API in order to track viewing time and organize list of videos.
What's next for The View App
We are adding D-News, pronounced Da News. Decentralized News allows for a more well rounded perspective of current events. Our reps will be like amateur reporters. We will be plainclothes a Meta Chain soon. As well as Edge Store Nodes. And more ways to monitor and pay for viewing time.
