Inspiration

Changing colours always makes me think of autumn and how nature changes colour through the seasons. The way we interact with nature also changes depending on the seasons which is the basis of the game.

What it does

It is a 2D platformer where the player can change the season using 4 buttons. By changing the season, the world changes to provide different benefits. In the spring the player can plant trees. In the summer the trees grow and the player can reach higher platforms. Autumn gives the player fruit from trees and gusts of wind to help blow the player over larger gaps. Winter freezes water to make it walkable.

How we built it

Using Unity and C# to control the player and game logic. Krita for all the art in the game.

Challenges we ran into

Lack of time was the main challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created my first tilemap that is quite seamless so connects to other tiles well. Designed all the sprites in the game.

What we learned

Learned how to design tilemaps, implement them in Unity. How to add logic to game objects. Making the camera follow the player.

What's next for The Traveller

Adding more detailed art for each season. Build a longer level with more challenging platforming to make use of the season change.
