Inspiration

Provide musical experience for those who are hard of hearing.

Plays a music stream provided by IHeartMedia API causing vibrational feedback on a glove connected to an Arduino!

We added motors to each of the fingers on a black glove. The motors received feedback from the aux chord connected to a music source.

We build an Amazon Alexa skill that would send the music stream to a computer

Having the Amazon Alexa skill, run the script that made the calls to the API, and play the music for us.

The glove works, the script and API requests work, the Amazon Alexa responds to our intents!

I assisted in initial set up and debugging of the Alexa custom skill getting it to a state where my teammates could implement functionality for the project.

I also worked with reading documentation and initial setup of scripts to make calls to the iHeartMedia API's using cURL and Python 3. Once we were able to get authenticated, my team was able to implement the logic needed in the script to pull the music stream for the project.

I also pitched the idea to judges during initial judging rounds and in front of the auditorium as part of the top 5 teams.

Abraham Fong
I worked on the hardware part of the project, using the Arduino micro contorller and 5 micro vibration motors for each finger. Sending feedback from the computer to each finger that has a motor attacthed to it.

I worked on the logic to utilize iHeartMedia's api's to provide feedback about local radio stations.

Daniel Bringhurst
I worked on the intents for Amazon Alexa's skill that would allow it to use the python script for getting feedback from local radio stations.
