Inspiration
We were inspired by the urgency of the biodiversity crisis along with all of our shared passion for wildlife. We recognized that Milton and the overall Halton region is rapidly expanding and that is severely affecting our wildlife. Therefore, we decided to center our project around the Halton region and the animals being affected by our existence.
What We Learned
We learned that biodiversity is more important to our existence than we thought. Biodiversity provides us with all the necessities we need to exist and thrive. We also learn how to create content that is interactive yet easy for users to use. Overall, we gained new knowledge about the world around us as well as enhanced our web development and problem-solving skills.
How We Built Eco-Paws
We began by outlining what features we wanted in our project and listed it in bullet points. We then researched local endangered species in our area to make our platform relatable for the residences of Milton and the Halton region. Then we got started on using HTML to create the main website and other members worked on the quiz portion of our project. We added our research to the website and made it pleasing for viewers to view. Finally, we refined and tested our project for any bugs.
Challenges we faced
We faced a couple of challenges in our project. Some involved getting the project started and finding a platform to connect all our group members on to work on the project together. Secondly, we faced a problem actually brainstorming unique ideas on what to create that would connect with the theme we were given. We also faced a couple of technical problems such as designing our interactive features like our quiz, making our website aesthetically pleasing but also easy for users to use.
Conclusion
Eco-Paws is our contribution to a healthier more sustainable planet. By connecting technology with conservation, we hope to inspire indidvudals to protect wildlife and preserve biodiversity for future generations.
