Inspiration

The idea came from a nightmare I had. It was about turning silence and loneliness into something unsettling and visually intense.

What it does

“The Last Nap” is a cinematic short film made with AI. It turns a quiet death into a supernatural transformation. The story moves slowly and hypnotically, following an old man as he changes from human into something monstrous.

How we built it

I used generative AI, morphing tools, and cinematic editing in DaVinci Resolve. Visuals were created in MidJourney and animated with AI. Lighting, sound, and pacing were carefully tuned to make the transformation feel real, slow, and silent.

Challenges we ran into

Keeping the visuals consistent and realistic during the transformation was the hardest part. Every frame had to carry emotion while keeping the lighting and texture in sync.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I managed to create a smooth and emotional transformation without relying on horror clichés. The silence became the most disturbing part.

What we learned

I discovered how to use AI to tell stories through sensation. Stillness, time, and decay became tools for building emotion.

What's next for The Last Nap

I plan to expand it into a poetic horror anthology, created with AI, that explores death, memory, and the return of the impossible.
