Inspiration
We know how hard being a small writer can be, and we also know that out there we can find millions of amazing writers waiting for a chance to get noticed. We wanted to be able to create a safe space that could kick start small authors' careers!
What it does
The Ink Spot is a web page where authors can send their work so they have an accessible way of promoting it and finding publishers! We also want to be able to create a community, and to help us with that, we have our discord server and discord bot that will allow us to promote the work we receive with many people. Are you looking for a fantastic history essay? Just type the word ‘history’ in the discord server and you will get a recommendation from our authors
How we built it
To create the webpage we used css, javascript and html. For the bot we used Discord for developers, python and the discord python library. We also used zoom and geneva to work as a team
Challenges we ran into
For some of us, it was the first time using html, javascript and css, however making things it’s the best way of learning! While coding we were having some issues with repl.it and when doing the bot we had some problems connecting the code with the actual bot on the server, however we figured everything out and solve it on time
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We started this project pretty late yesterday because we just joined the hackathon! We definitely had little time to do this, however we were able to create a beautiful project in hours
What we learned
Part of our team learned to use html, css, and javascript for the first time ever, and some of us also learned to use python and discord developers tools!
What's next for The Ink Spot
We want to continue working on the design and accessibility features to make The Ink Spot the best place for small authors! Also keep adding features to our discord server and discord bot
