Inspiration
Our inspiration came from the movie San Andreas and the news about the big earthquake coming up. We wanted to make something that could help authorities save people and and possible save more lives.
What it does
The Head Counter senses movements and covering of light sources to determine whether someone is leaving the room (-1 person) or entering the room (+1 person), with a separate exit and and entrance
How we built it
We used the Arduino intel Edison and Arduino studio to make the app wirelessly connect. To make the app, we used android studio and an android emulator.
Challenges we ran into
Making the app wireless was difficult, and it was also difficult to find the different syntax for each of the different sensors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we made the app wirelessly connectible to the app, and that we made an app. This was very difficult, because making an app is difficult enough, but making a server so that everything is wireless was an extremely trying task for us.
What we learned
We learned how to find an IP address, how to connect to a server, and how to document a program or invention.
What's next for The Head Counter
The Head Counter could become the next Waze. For example, whenever someone opens The Head Counter app, they can see how many people are in the gas station and then decide which gas station to go to.
