Over two-thirds of female video game characters (as opposed to 10% of male characters) are represented in stereotyped gender roles. These media images affect both males and females behavior, body image and self-perception. Continuing to perpetuate these stereotypes makes it difficult for people to be true to themselves. We have focused our audience on under 12 year old's to subconsciously change the way that they think. We used Stencyl to create a fun game app that challenges the way they might think of traditional gender roles. We are most proud of our concept and story-line. Kids can join The Defenders, a group of adventurous best friends that stand up for each other when they are cornered by a bully on top of the Cathedral of Learning. Hurry and get to the 42nd floor to defend your friend!
