So, I am really bad at waking up. When I do eventually wake up, I often need nudging towards being where I need to be. A couple years back I thought that it'd be great if I could have a daily digest of things that I could look at when I woke up.
This is that.
I pull my appointments from Google Calendar, weather from Forecast.io and news from the BBC. I then pump it all into a Star TSP100 thermal receipt printer, which once lived life in a shop.
This turned out to be easier than I thought, so I made it pull in tweets using the Twitter Live Streaming API. I tried this with "Taylor Swift" and killed some trees in the process.
This also turned out to be easy, so I made it print out incoming SMS from Twilio.
