What it does
The player plays a card game against a series of plant where the player can only play 1 creature and 1 spell each turn, while the opponent can play up to 2 creatures every turn. At the start of the game the player drafts their deck 1 card at a time from a pool of 3 random cards for each pick. In order to win the player must not only draft their deck extremely well, but play the deck to its fullest.
How we built it
Using gameMaker Studio 2, we were easily able to import assets and quickly make them function as intended.
Challenges we ran into
Our team only had one programmer. Especially near the end of the project, this meant it was sometimes hard for everybody to work on the project in some capacity, because at a certain point there was no more art, music, or story to be made.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made our largest stretch goal of making the final boss a 2 phase boss fight, without compromising other aspects of the game in the process.
What we learned
Even with just one programmer on the team, everybody can still be a very significant contribution. There are so many other assets that need to be made that the programmer cannot make in time, that having others on the team to do that makes a very significant difference.
What's next for Puttin Down the Pepper Poppers
I actaully really like how this project turned, so I may spend some additional time after the event expanding the game in order to upload it as a proper game to either Steam or GameJolt.
