We are developing a project called Tetraid, a device for quadriplegics and paraplegics.
This device will enable the user to better interact with their surroundings. Given the lack of movement available to the disabled, individuals need help completing actions in a self sufficient manner as well as a need a method to communicate with others not within their immediate vicinity. Quadriplegics don't have the same quality of life compared to those with full control of their bodies. We hope that our device would help those who are disabled to regain some amount of control back in order to allow themselves to live more independently.
Tetraid is built with 3 arduinos. One arduino is dedicated to read sound commands and tones. The 2nd arduino incorporates an IMU to detect movement. The 3rd Arduino (main arduino) utilizes a Wave Shield to process and produce sound (feedback to the user). This arduino also incorporates data sent from the other two arduinos and uses this data to communicate with the user as well as the outside world.
