Inspiration

The growing urgency to address climate change inspired us to create TerraNova. Events like weddings, conferences, and festivals often have a large environmental footprint, yet sustainable planning options remain limited and inconvenient. We wanted to make eco-friendly choices accessible, seamless, and impactful, helping individuals and organizations celebrate responsibly without compromising the experience.

What it does

TerraNova is a digital platform that empowers users to plan eco-friendly events effortlessly. It offers tools such as a Carbon Footprint Estimator, a drag-and-drop event planner, and a database of sustainable vendors. Users can make informed decisions on catering, decorations, transportation, and venues while tracking their event’s environmental impact in real time.

How we built it

We combined several technologies to create TerraNova. The platform features:

A cloud-based architecture for scalability and reliability.
A frontend built using React, integrated with a drag-and-drop event planner.
An AWS-hosted PostgreSQL database to manage vendor and user data.
AI-driven tools powered by OpenAI for real-time suggestions and sustainability scoring.
