DO-IT, Volunteering made Easy

Our team understands the importance of volunteering, especially in today's chaotic world, and how many want to do their part to help the less fortunate but can't as the major organizations in charge aren't able to handle the massive influx of volunteers. However, through our website, we can spread the workforce to smaller charities so it can be used more efficiently and provide a proper framework that can be used to aid them further.

What it does

We aim to make the process of volunteering effortless and to reach out to a larger audience. This is done by streamlining the process by creating a website that would allow its users to read up on the different organizations more efficiently, find out how they help to make our world a better place and find it easier to volunteer as information is more readily accessible. As people will more readily want to volunteer, we can provide excellent help to those in need.

How we built it

We built it on Visual Studio Code while referencing the lessons taught to us in the past and by looking through explanatory Youtube videos that guided us to give life to our brainchild. We used other GitHub submissions to learn how to optimize our code and eliminate redundant sections.

Challenges we ran into

Our Greatest Challenge with this project was our steep learning curve as we were beginners in website development. To make our website more user-friendly and effective in solving its target problems, we incorporated different elements, which sometimes lead to bugs or errors because other lines of code would conflict.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In the Hackathon, we built our very first functioning website with little prior knowledge of the field. We learned how to troubleshoot along the way and didn't let obstacles crush our hopes but used them as a springboard to develop our code further.

What we learned

JavaScript, HTML, and CSS are the languages we used to build our current application. Despite many hiccups along the way, we gained exposure to other platforms and languages, such as react. This ultimately proved to be a blessing in disguise.

What's next for Tekong Hackers

We plan to attend future hackathons and take courses online from websites like Youtube, Udemy, Coursera, and many others to enhance our skills further. This ensures that our code will be of the highest quality for all future submissions.
