Form used to give users a matching credit card
Inspiration
After some brainstorming, we realized that all of us didn't know that much about which credit card to choose or how to get credit card rewards, and in general, we weren't that familiar with even the credit score.
What it does
Our project is a website that focuses on Financial Literacy improvement among our peers, college students. We believe that this project is important because, after the survey we did, we found out that people have a desire to learn more about personal finance, and a lot of people felt confused about credit card-related information. Our website has a "build your own adventure" feature, that allows users to determine the best credit card option for them based on their responses and preferences. Moreover, this website has educational information about credit scores and credit card reward points, such as cashback, miles, and points. Ultimately, it offers advice and tips on how to navigate the world of personal finance.
How we built it
Our project used React for the Framework in order to build our website. As for the programming languages, we used Javascript, HTML, and CSS for the front end. For the design, Figma and Canva were used. In addition, discord was used for communication.
Challenges we ran into
Our team was a combination of people with different experience levels of coding. So it was a bit complicated to find tasks applicable for everyone to do.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of coming up with an idea that solves the problem that bothers a lot of our peers, according to the survey we conducted. Moreover, we are proud that we could build the whole website just in 24 hours.
What we learned
We learned how to work together as a team on one big project. Moreover, we understood how to use our abilities for such an interesting concept as a hackathon, and how to cooperate.
What's next for TeamUS-Project
Although there are some websites similar to ours, they might be biased due to the financial support of their sponsors. We, as an independent team, don’t have any preferences or biases towards some bank companies, hence we could recommend credit cards to our user based on their merit and fit only. Therefore it would be a good idea to continue to support this website, especially based on the interest people showed through the interest survey we conducted.
