What it does
The chatbot leads the user through the questioning of three key witnesses in a child homicide case. Each of the witnesses has varying biases and perspectives, and it is up to the user to use the evidence gained from their interrogations to determine which of three given suspects is the real murderer.
How we built it
We built our entire system through Java with OOP through Text Editor Atom and the Eclipse IDE. On the side, we modeled a basic front-end user interface with AppLab.
Challenges we ran into
Half the team were new to programming in Java and spent much of the hackathon learning about object-oriented programming concepts. We also ran into many bugs, especially since only one team member had Eclipse downloaded, and the rest of the team collaborated on Atom.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to complete our goals successfully and on time.
What we learned
We learned how to debug effectively with embedded statements and efficiently identify logic errors.
What's next for Team4.BittenbinderChatbot
We want to further develop the user interface by fully converting our Java code into JavaScript and combining its functionality with HTML/CSS.
