Inspiration: In a modern working economy, it is difficult for parents to drive their children to school consistently. With the urgency of addressing global warming, this app offers a solution to reduce individualized transport emissions while easing the burden on families. This app would solve 2 problems with one service.
What it does: CAB-ybara is a local carpooling app that connects students and parents in the same neighborhood. The app has two interfaces, for parent drivers and students. Parents volunteer to drive students to and/or from school, and students get a ride to/from school. There are built-in safety features, reviews of both drivers and riders, and a messaging system within each carpool group.
How we built it: We used Figma to make the wireframes and final prototype, and Procreate to draw the assets/logos.
Challenges we ran into: It was challenging to connect all the different elements we created seamlessly. In particular, since we included two different interfaces, it was challenging to ensure that each flow connected to the relevant screens. Working with a team of four, it was also challenging to work on one Figma file at first, since we had to make sure all of our designs were consistent, but everything came together smoothly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We are proud to have created two different interfaces, and to have been able to include a lot of different fundamental features, even given the limited time that we had.
What we learned: We learned just how much goes into an app and how complex it can be with all the different screens and features. We also learned how to research more effectively in order to make sure the app satisfied user needs. Finally, we learned a lot about working as a team, and how to split up work efficiently, particularly when making sure all the frames had a consistent design.
