Inspiration

Physical planners are inconvenient since you have to pull out of your bag or find a piece of scrap paper to write your task down. Online ones (Notion, Google Keep, etc) are also inconvenient because people tend to forget about them as they're not really there in an intrusive way (you can easily close out of them) and then you have to remember to open it back up again. Introducing, TamaCorgi, a Google Chrome extension of a tamagotchi but with a pet corgi! To take care of the corgi, check off tasks from your to-do list or complete tasks from your pet with a click of a button and will always be there in your browser.

What it does

  1. Add tasks to your to-do list

  2. Delete tasks from your to-do list

  3. Check or uncheck tasks you've finished or haven't finished for heart points

  4. Hover over Georgie, the moonwalk loving corgi, to give him some heart points

  5. Complete tasks from Georgie to also get heart points

How we built it

Using Javascript, HTML, and CSS

Challenges we ran into

I think the biggest challenge I ran into was trying to figure out how to save the state of the popup as I've never worked with Google Chrome extensions before. I spent most of the 36 hours trying to get that to work but alas, I have failed. Some other small bug issues that I ended up getting resolved.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The fact that this was my first time making a Google Chrome extension and I'm super proud of the turnout!

What we learned

Something you think is easy might be harder than it looks

What's next for TamaCorgi

Hopefully, I'll be able to make it save it's state so the to-do list can function as a real to-do list and I can put it in the Google web store :)
