💡 Inspiration

Our inspiration for this app came from talking about being a good friend. We all had a shared experience where one of our friends is talking to a very toxic person. From our talk with our friends about how hard it is for a friend to see a bad relationship, we came up with Talkzic.

Love blinds. We all have been through a situation where you or a friend is talking to a new potential person and they are… questionable. With Talkzic you will never have to be alone with the search for a potential partner. Let us be your new eyes. We use analytical technology to find and explain red flags in conversations. Ever questioning someone you are dating? With this app you are spared texting your friends and uses an objective software to find if they are a green flag. This software shows datebility, red flags, green flags and upcoming problems.

So, courtesy of Friendship Day, we decided to make an app that will do all that explaining for you. Be better friend by using Talkzic. Convince your friend to break up with their bad partner. Using science.

🔍 What it does

Our application takes in an audio recording of a conversation and transcript using voice recognition technology. We then scan the transcript for signs of red flags and green flags. Based on the amount of flags of each colour raised, the application will give you a red flag ranking and details about the specific flags raised.

🔩 How we built it

We built this project using SwiftUI, HTML, and CSS. The code for the introductory website was made using HTML and CSS, but we also used Figma to build our high-fidelity wireframe. The app was made for iOS using SwiftUI.

🚧 Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we ran into was figuring out how to use DNS for the domain in the website, but we preserved and figured it out, of course through lots of trials of error. Debugging glitches and figuring out a good formula for the red flag ranking was also difficult.

🥇 Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are all so proud of pulling together and submitting this amazing project in less than 36 hours. We worked through so many problems and it really brought us all closer together. It was a wild ride.

📕 What we learned

We learned more about web development, mobile development, UI/UX design, and how to host domains. We also learned how to better communicate using discord. We learned that a discord server is much needed.

🪜 What's next for Talkzic

Currently, this is an iOS app. We plan to expand so everyone can remove Talkzic people from their lives. Additionally, we plan to increase accessibility by implementing dark mode and making the text-to-speech work in different languages.
